Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have rescued the Administrative Secretary of Kibiya Local Government Area of Kano State, Hamza Durya, after he was abducted by gunmen.
Durya was reportedly kidnapped at his residence in Durya Village in Kibiya Local Government Area.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Waiya.
According to the statement, security agencies were immediately deployed following the incident to ensure the victim’s safe return and to track down the perpetrators.

It added that DSS operatives in the state command carried out a swift operation that led to the rescue of the victim and the arrest of two suspected kidnappers.
The statement noted that the suspects sustained gunshot injuries during the operation.
The state government commended the security agencies for their prompt response, describing the rescue as a major success in ongoing efforts to curb insecurity.
It also reiterated its commitment to safeguarding lives and property, urging residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies.
