The Department of State Services (DSS) has filed five new charges against the founder of Sahara Reporters and activist, Omoyele Sowore, for allegedly insulting President Bola Tinubu.
The first charge relates to comments Sowore made on August 25 on his X account (@yele Sowore), where he stated that “this criminal @OfficialPBAT actually went to Brazil to claim that there is no more corruption under his regime in Nigeria. What audacity to lie shamelessly!”
The DSS claims this statement was intentionally made to incite a breakdown of law and order, particularly among citizens with differing opinions about the president.

The second charge references a similar claim made by Sowore on his official Facebook account, Omoloye Sowore, where he shared comparable messages with the public.
The third, fourth, and fifth charges follow a similar pattern and are subject to penalties as outlined in Section 59 of the Criminal Code.
