It is indisputable that Arsenal have been the most impressive side since the season started with a 100% performance record to sit at the top of the Premier League table.

With four games played including a 2-1 win against Fulham on Saturday, the Gunners ensured it maintained a two-point lead against last season’s champions Manchester City.

This is a good record for Mikel Arteta who has seen his side flourish despite being tested by Fulham yesterday, came from a goal deficit to seal a 2-1 victory at the Emirates Stadium to the amazement of the ecstatic fans.

Exuding the qualities of title contenders for the season, Arteta has cautioned his players not to get too overwhelmed with the success as it is a marathon race to clinch the title.

“This is a long, long marathon. Everybody has to suffer at some stage. We’re on a good run and we have to try to maintain it,” Arteta told the British media in a post-match interview.

“Absolutely not [getting carried away]. Be humble and hungry,” he added.

Arsenal started the season with a 2-0 win against Crystal Palace and went on to thump Leicester City 4-2 at the Emirates Stadium where Gabriel Jesus got his first brace since he joined the Gunners this summer from Manchester City.

Penultimately, Arteta led the team to the Vitality Stadium where they plummeted Bournemouth 3-0, courtesy of Martin Odegaard’s brace and William Saliba’s finisher.

Despite the smooth ride, Arsenal will be tested in September and October where they will have to face Manchester United in Old Trafford, Tottenham, Liverpool and Manchester City, including a host of underdogs.

However, Arteta has insisted they will continue to prepare for every game which according to him is so demanding.

“But now it’s onto the next one. We have games this week so we have to prepare and recover well and be ready because every game in this league is so demanding. You can see the results. We need to be ready,” he said.

Nevertheless, the Arsenal manager brushed aside talks linking Arsenal as title contenders for the season adding that the Premier League is still in the preliminary stage.

“No, I think it’s just the start of the season,” he added.

Arsenal’s next fixture is against Aston Villa at Emirate Stadium on Wednesday. According to the head-to-head record in their last 20 meetings, Arsenal have won 14 times, drawn 1 and lost 5.

In addition, last season, Arteta led the team to secure a home and away victory against Steven Gerrard’s side.
