Slovenian superstar Luka Doncic shared a heartfelt message after helping the Los Angeles Lakers secure a playoff spot by scoring 45 points in their 112-97 victory over his former team, the Dallas Mavericks.
In February, Doncic made a shocking mid-season trade from the Mavericks to the Lakers, which was one of the biggest surprises in NBA history.
Fans at the American Airlines Center received T-shirts that read “Hvala za vse,” meaning “Thank you for everything” in Slovenian, to honor Doncic’s six and a half seasons in Texas.
Doncic became emotional as the Mavericks showed a tribute video before the game, and the home crowd cheered for him with every play during the first few minutes.
However, he quickly focused on the game, scoring 13 points in the first quarter and reaching 31 by halftime.

In his 38 minutes on the court, he also recorded eight rebounds, six assists, and four steals.
“Everyone noticed how I reacted to the video,” Doncic shared with ESPN.
“I am really thankful for all the fans. My teammates have always supported me. I’m just really happy.
“I care about these fans and this city, but now it’s time to look ahead.”
LeBron James, who is 40 years old, scored 27 points, with 13 coming in the last quarter.
This victory ensures that the Lakers will secure a top-six seed in the Western Conference playoffs, and they can clinch the third seed by winning either of their last two games.
