The Nigeria anti-graft agency, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has revealed that it has unraveled a hidden $7,287,000 stolen funds linked to the former Minister of Petroleum in President Goodluck Jonathan’s regime, Diezani Allison-Madueke.
This was made public by the EFCC through the spokesperson of the commission, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren on Wednesday at its headquarters in Abuja.
Wilson noted that a former Managing Director of Fidelity Bank Plc, Mr. Nnamdi Okonkwo has been arrested in connection with the financial scandal.
In a statement by the spokesperson of the EFCC, the money was lodged in the coffers of the bank where Okonkwo, a former employee of the bank and presently the Chairman of First Bank Holding, previously worked. ”His arrest is part of the ongoing investigation,” Uwujaren said.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, the statement reads in part, “While all the $153 million were recovered by the EFCC, the cases involving $115 million, as it relates with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) bribery matter, are in various courts.
“Okonkwo and Charles Onyedibe are currently being detained by the EFCC over the whereabouts of the new $72.87 million,” he added.
