The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has announced that 16 military officers are to face disciplinary action due to inappropriate behaviour and violation of military rules.

Director of Defence Information, Brig.-Gen. Tukur Gusau disclosed this information in a statement on Saturday in Abuja.

He explained that the officers were caught during a regular military exercise, and investigations revealed actions that did not align with military standards.

Gusau noted that some of the affected officers expressed concerns about their careers, including feelings of being stuck in their positions due to failing promotion examinations and other related issues.

He added that some of the officers already had ongoing disciplinary cases for different offenses, and consequently, their actions were found to be against the expected conduct of military personnel.

After the investigations are completed, the officers who are found to have violated military rules will face appropriate consequences according to military laws.

Gusau emphasized that this action is a standard procedure to maintain order and professionalism in the armed forces.

He reassured the public that the military is dedicated to its core principles of loyalty, integrity, and following the rules set forth by the democratic government.

“The Armed Forces of Nigeria will not accept any behavior that disrupts unity or undermines its responsibilities.

Overall, the military is committed to professionalism and protecting Nigeria’s independence,” he said.
