Former Deputy President of the Senate, Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege, has implored Nigerians to deploy Artificial Intelligence (AI) enables in tracking governance in the country.
He stated this in Asaba, at the distinguished Nigerian awards, organised by Oasis Magazine.
Speaking on the topic: “Artificial Intelligence and the contemporary media space”, Sen. Omo-Agege said AI has profoundly impacted virtually every area of business, governance, and politics.
Send. Omo-Agege urged media practitioners to leverage the limitless versatility of AI to seek good governance, social impact, and positive change, including holding public office holders accountable.

Represented by Mr. Chuks Erhire, he noted that as AI is used regularly to verify content to prevent disinformation, it can be deployed to track the performance of government at all levels.
“The integration of AI in the media space necessitates a thoughtful approach, balancing innovation with accountability and transparency to ensure a responsible and beneficial coexistence of humans.
“AI generated content can be misused to create convincing but false information, thereby threatening media credibility. They blur the lines between human and artificial communication,” he stated.
