French winger Ousmane Dembele has finally agreed with Spanish club Barcelona to extend his contract until 2024.
Dembele has been involved in a contract melee with the Catalans after he was told to take a pay cut to enable him continue under Xavi Hernandez beyond June 30, 2022.
According to an emerging report from Spain, both parties’ agreement is now subject to the club’s sporting director’s approval.
“After many months of negotiations, offers, counter-offers, threats and disagreements, Dembélé is just waiting to receive the green light from Barça’s sports director to sign his new contract to continue at the Camp Nou,” MD said.
“There are only a few details left, the classic fringes, so that the French winger continues to be linked to the Barça club, as was the will of Xavi Hernández, Barça coach,” the Spanish media added.
Corroborating the above report, SubNation added that the agreement reached by the club with the 25-years-old former Borussia Dortmund player, who has scored 32 goals in 150 appearances, will have to be ratified by Mateu Alemany.

Alemany now holds the decision to decide the player’s fate in Catalonia but Barcelona’s sporting director has never hidden his disgust for the Frenchman according to a report by RMC Sport.
“Dembele’s future is known (only) by him and his agents,” he said.
“I have my own personal opinion on this but it’s not relevant. There is now news, the same as the last six or seven months,” Alemany added.
The report, however, noted that Barcelona have not given up on the chase to sign Leeds and Brazilian winger, Raphinha from Elland Road and are looking to snap him up for €50m.
