Fear gripped residents of Ogwashi-Uku metropolis, Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State, as no fewer than three persons were allegedly abducted in separate incidents on the same day.
The abductions reportedly occurred in the fast developing residential area behind the Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) headquarters, in Agidiehe Farm Road area.
According to a reliable local vigilante source, the first victim was trailed by kidnappers riding a motorcycle as he made his way home. The suspects allegedly provided information to their accomplices who had laid an ambush near the victim’s residence. Upon his arrival, the masked men wielding AK-47 rifles attacked the victim immediately after he alighted from his vehicle, firing several shots into the air to scare off bystanders before forcibly abducting him.
The second incident occurred shortly after, with the kidnappers targeting another man in the same area. According to the source, the assailants riddled the victim’s car with bullets, shattering the back windshield and firing directly at the driver’s side, likely in an attempt to kill him. Despite the man’s apparent efforts to escape, the kidnappers managed to abduct him after the violent attack.

The details surrounding the third abduction remain unclear at the time of this report. However, it was confirmed that the third victim was also taken by the kidnappers in a similarly brazen manner.
Local vigilantes launched an immediate effort to rescue the victims but were unsuccessful in tracking the kidnappers, who had already moved the victims deep into the surrounding bush.
“We are working tirelessly, day and night, to rescue the victims unharmed,” said the vigilante source, as the community remains on high alert following the incidents.
Police authorities have yet to release an official statement on the kidnappings, but residents are calling for heightened security measures in the area.
