The Delta State Traditional Rulers Council on Tuesday, pledged to support the re-election of President Bola Tinubu for a second term in the 2027 general elections.
Chairman of the State Traditional Rulers Council and Orodje of Okpe Kingdom, Maj. Gen. Felix Mujakperuo (rtd), disclosed this during a visit of the First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu to the state traditional rulers council secretariat in Asaba.
The Okpe monarch who lauded the president’s wife for the visit, commended President Tinubu for the construction of several road projects in the state, including the Benin-Asaba Expressway, Benin-Warri Expressway and the construction of the access road to the Second Niger Bridge.
The traditional ruler also sought the support of President Tinubu for the re-election of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, who he said in the last 21 months in office had turned the state into a huge construction site.
“I want to on behalf of the leadership of the entire members of the Delta State Traditional Rulers Council and indeedz all traditional rulers in the state welcome you our dear daughter to Delta State.
“We are proud of you that you are a virtuous womanz who stood by your husband to be able to navigate the political contours of this nation to emerge president.
“I can assure you that we Deltans, we respect our in-laws and based on that, we are assuring you that come 2027, we Deltans will vote for Mr. President.
“Your Excellency, just yesterday, one of us here, Asagba of Asaba, Obi Epiphany Azinge told us when he visited Mr. President that Mr. President described our governor as a progressive governor.

“That shows that Mr. President is following closely, the activities of our governor.
“In the same venue, the Minister for Works, Sen. David Umahi, also described Gov. Oborevwori as a hardworking governor.
“He said that Governor Oborevwori has turned the whole of Delta State to a huge construction site.
Having done this, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori deserves a second term, because we don’t want all these projects to be abandoned.
“We want to through you appeal to Mr President to support our governor’s re-election so that these projects won’t be abandoned.
“I want to also thank you for your care for Nigeria women especially the young ones. We have followed closely with what you have been doing and we are very proud of you,” the monarch said.
Sen. Oluremi Tinubu highlighted the impact of HIV/AIDS, especially among young people, and stressed the importance of free treatment programmes.
She encouraged traditional rulers to help spread awareness and advocate for health issues, including the elimination of female genital mutilation.
Sen. Tinubu added that she had secured significant funding for tuberculosis treatment and emphasized her commitment to giving back to society through donations and advocacy.
