Two suspected kidnappers were neutralised in the early hours of Wednesday during a sting operation carried out by security personnel attached to Operation Delta Sweep in Agbor, Delta State.
The raid, which followed weeks of intense surveillance, targeted a criminal gang believed to be behind a wave of violent crimes in the region.
Sources familiar with the operation revealed that the suspects were members of a gang that had long been operating with impunity along the Agbor corridor, allegedly responsible for multiple cases of kidnapping, armed robbery, and attacks on commuters and residents.
Acting on credible intelligence, the security team launched a surprise offensive, resulting in a brief but intense gunfight. Two members of the gang were killed in the exchange, while others reportedly fled the scene with gunshot wounds.
