The Delta State Government led by Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori has reaffirmed its commitment to partnering with the federal government under the global fund to fight HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and malaria, the Society for Family Health, and faith based organization to create a malaria-free environment.
Governor Oborevwori gave the assurance during an advocacy visit consisting of the representative of the Minister of Health, Society for Family Health and Catholic Relief Services, a faith based organization, led by the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Joseph Onojaeme.
The Governor who was represented by his deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, emphasized the importance of a healthy society, stating that a healthy society was a wealthy one.
He expressed gratitude to the visiting team for their passion and commitment to the malaria campaign, noting that their efforts would greatly benefit the citizens of Delta State.

Governor Oborevwori pledged to participate in the campaign and take it to every nook and cranny of the state, expressing optimism that with the support of the federal government, society for family health and other organizations, the state aimed to make significant progress in eliminating malaria and creating a healthier environment for its citizens.
Earlier in his address, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Joseph Onojaeme, highlighted the significance of the advocacy visit and sensitization exercise towards the mass distribution of insecticide-treated nets, noting that malaria remained a major public health challenge in the state and across the country,
He said malaria accounted for a significant burden of illness and death, especially among pregnant women and children under the age of five.
Dr. Onojaeme, while emphasizing the need for stakeholders to redouble their efforts to eliminate and prevent malaria from society, stated that malaria is a treatable disease and that the advocacy visit was a call to action.
