Participants drawn from Delta South Senatorial District have applauded the senator representing the district, Sen. Joel-Onowakpo Thomas, for facilitating their participation in a specialised welding and fabrication training programme designed to improve technical capacity among young people.
The one-month intensive programme, organised by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) in partnership with the senator, was held in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, and focused on equipping participants with practical skills aligned with international standards in welding and fabrication.
Speaking at the end of the training on Friday, the team leader of the welders, Mr. Ewomazino Odugala, said the opportunity had expanded the participants’ professional knowledge and practical experience in the field.
Odugala, who spoke on behalf of the trainees, said the programme exposed them to modern welding techniques and industry practices that would enhance their competitiveness in the labour market.
He also expressed appreciation to the NCDMB, the programme’s management team and consultants for the smooth organisation and successful completion of the training.
According to him, the intervention by Sen. Joel-Onowakpo reflects a deliberate effort to promote human capital development in the district by providing young people with access to valuable technical training.
He noted that the programme has broadened their understanding of global welding and fabrication standards and positioned participants to explore better employment and business opportunities within the oil and gas and fabrication industries.
