Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku, has strongly refuted allegations of certificate racketeering following an investigative report by freelance journalist Martin White-Ufuah, who claims to have uncovered a syndicate issuing fake National Diploma (ND) certificates from the institution.
White-Ufuah, in his undercover investigation, reportedly purchased an ND certificate from the polytechnic, which awarded him an Upper Credit grade. He provided documentary evidence, including a video recording, to support his claims and has publicly called for an opportunity to discuss his findings on air, alleging a deep-rooted fraud within the institution.
However, in an official statement issued on February 15, 2025, the management of Delta State Polytechnic dismissed the claims as baseless and malicious, insisting that the alleged certificate bore no resemblance to its official documents. The institution further asserted that the names of the supposed authorizing officials on the forged documents were no longer affiliated with the polytechnic during the period in question.

The Polytechnic’s management condemned what it described as a deliberate attempt to mislead the public and tarnish its reputation. It reaffirmed its commitment to upholding academic integrity and warned against fraudsters seeking to exploit the institution’s name for illicit gains.
“The general public should disregard any information in this regard,” the statement concluded.
As the controversy unfolds, the call for an independent investigation into the alleged certificate racketeering intensifies, with observers urging authorities to examine the journalist’s findings and verify the authenticity of his claims. White-Ufuah maintains that he is ready to present further evidence and engage in a detailed discussion regarding his investigation.
