The Delta State Police Command neutralized suspected kidnappers and arrested armed robbers, cultists, and a criminal syndicate involved in motorcycle theft in coordinated sting operations led by the CP-Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT).
The operations, which took place across Ughelli and Asaba, led to the recovery of dangerous weapons, ammunition, and a suspected stolen Q-link motorcycle.
The CP-SAT, a tactical squad deployed by the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, continues to intensify its efforts to combat violent crime, bringing renewed assurance of safety to residents across the state.
According to a press release issued by the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Edafe Bright, the first operation occurred on May 27, 2025, at about 11:35 p.m. along the Ughelli–Patani Road.
“Acting on credible intelligence, operatives of CP-SAT led by ASP Robinson Julius attempted to flag down a suspicious shuttle bus near Ewhereni Junction. The suspects opened fire, triggering a fierce gunfight.
“Three of the suspects sustained gunshot injuries during the exchange and were rushed to the hospital where they later died. Others escaped into the night. Recovered from the scene was one AK-47 rifle loaded with 18 rounds of live ammunition, a further testament to the high-risk nature of the operation.

Upon his arrest, Okolie led police officers to a bush near Okpanam City Gate where they recovered three locally made guns, four live cartridges, and a suspected stolen Q-link motorcycle.
“Further investigations led to the arrest of three other suspects linked to the criminal network: Ogochukwu Emmanuel (33) of Isu, Ebonyi State; Joseph Egwu (42) of Ndibe, Afikpo, Ebonyi State, and Yakubu Yusuf (28) of Nasarawa LGA, Kano State, identified as the receiver of the stolen items.
Additionally, a Beretta pistol loaded with five live rounds was recovered from the residence of one “NINO” in Ibusa, who is currently at large. Police investigations into the case are still ongoing,” he said.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, lauded the professionalism and bravery of the CP-SAT team. He emphasized that the successful operations underscore the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property in Delta State.
