As part of measures to ensure a safe and peaceful Yuletide season, the Commissioner of Police in Delta State, Olufemi Abaniwonda has announced that the ban on fireworks is still in force.
The police chief said that the command will enforce the ban, including the prohibition of the use, sale, and display of other pyrotechnics, including fireworks and firecrackers.
Edafe Bright, the state Police Public Relations Officer, said this in a statement.
The statement added that the decision is part of ongoing efforts to prevent and reduce crime in the state by stopping criminals from taking advantage of the use of fireworks to unleash terror on law-abiding residents.
The police advised parents and guardians to caution their children and wards to desist from using the banned items.

Also, retailers of the prohibited items were equally warned to withdraw from the display and sale of the products, as anyone found wanting will be arrested and prosecuted.
The statement stated that area commanders, divisional police officers, and tactical commanders have been directed to monitor strict compliance and address any violations.
Furthermore, the police appealed to the public to cooperate in upholding the ban, saying that citizens are enjoined to always report incidents of the use or sale of fireworks to the nearest police station or by calling the command control room numbers, 08036684974, 08114895600 and 08025666914.
