The Delta State Commissioner of Police, Olufemi Abaniwonda, has ordered the redeployment of the divisional police officer of Ogwashi-Uku in Aniocha South Local Government Area of the state for non-performance.
The police commissioner also directed a special operation to be led by the area commander, Ogwashi-Uku, aimed at restoring security in the area.
A statement posted on social media by the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Edafe Bright, on Wednesday, said the move is part of a broader strategy to combat the increasing criminal activities in the area.
Edafe disclosed that the operation involves operatives from the Rapid Response Squad, Dragon Patrol, Eagle-Net, and the Special Anti-Kidnapping and Cybercrime Squad.
“These security units have been deployed across Ogwashi-Uku to flush out criminals and ensure the safety of residents,” he added.

The statement emphasized that there would be “no hidden place for kidnappers,” signaling the police command’s commitment to restoring law and order.
Ogwashi-Uku and its surrounding communities have recently witnessed a surge in violent crimes, including kidnappings, leading to heightened fear among residents.
The removal of the divisional police officer, underscores the police command’s dissatisfaction with the handling of security in the area, and its resolve to take decisive action.
With the deployment of specialized security units, and intensified operations, residents hope that the situation will improve, and criminals will be brought to justice.
