Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have recorded major breakthroughs in their ongoing clampdown on criminal activities, with the arrest of suspected cultists and the recovery of a stolen vehicle and a firearm.
According to a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, on Thursday, officers attached to the CP Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT) led by ASP Julius Robinson, acting on credible intelligence, stormed Yoruba Street in Sapele on June 29 and apprehended one Rasheed Atanda, a 31-year-old native of Irinle in Kwara State.
He said, “Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of three more suspects identified as Charles Oyowe, 36, from Obeda in Warri North; Rewane Ogbitse, 49, from Jakpa in Warri South; and Shedrack Oloko, 44, from Ethiope East. A Beretta pistol loaded with three rounds of live ammunition was recovered from Oyowe. All four suspects reportedly confessed to being members of the Eiye confraternity.

“In a separate operation on June 30, the same police team recovered a Lexus 330 Jeep earlier reported stolen during an armed robbery. The suspects allegedly invaded a residence in the early hours, stealing valuables including the vehicle, registered RBC 656 CN. Following swift investigation, the stolen car was recovered at about 6:35 a.m. along UTI Road, off DSC Expressway, Ebrumede. Police say efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects.”
Commissioner of Police, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, commended the officers for their prompt and coordinated actions, urging continued collaboration with the public. He emphasised that timely reporting of criminal activities plays a critical role in crime prevention and effective policing.
