A native doctor, identified as Okonji Chimeze, has been arrested by operatives of the Delta State Police Command following the discovery of two pump-action guns and a cutlass hidden in his residence at Umuehe Quarter, Ibusa.
The arrest was carried out on June 14, 2025, at about 6:30 a.m. by officers attached to the Special Anti-Kidnapping and Cybercrime Squad, who acted on credible intelligence. A search warrant was executed at the suspect’s home, leading to the recovery of the weapons concealed in the ceiling of his room.
The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the arrest in a statement released on Tuesday. He said the suspect is currently in custody while investigations continue to determine the source of the firearms and his possible links to criminal activity.

In a related development, the police also apprehended two suspected cultists during a routine stop-and-search operation at Otokutu Bridge, Warri, on June 18.
The suspects, Telvin Richmond, 27, and Frank Obiorah, 26, both of Opete by Otokutu, were arrested while travelling in a black Toyota Corolla. A search of the vehicle uncovered a locally made cut-to-size gun, a wooden pistol, a battle axe, and two yellow hand-bands bearing the inscription “NBM” (Neo Black Movement), believed to be symbols of the Aiye confraternity.
According to the police, Richmond confessed to buying the firearm in 2024 for eighty-seven thousand naira from another suspect who is currently at large. Both men are also in custody as investigations continue.
