Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force in Delta State have arrested two additional suspects linked to the gruesome killing of a 31-year-old man, Alex Adanike, who was allegedly murdered after being mistaken for his twin brother.

The arrests followed coordinated raids on identified criminal hideouts in Ughelli and Warri areas of the state, as part of intensified policing operations targeting cult-related violence and organised crime.

According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Edafe Bright, the suspects—Tega Micheal, 26, and Tena Sagbene, 32—were apprehended during the raids and subsequently identified by earlier arrested suspects as members of the gang responsible for the killing.

It was learnt that the victim, Alex Adanike, was attacked on January 20, 2026, by members of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity, also known as Aro Bagger, who allegedly shot and stabbed him to death in Agbhara-Otor Community after mistaking him for his twin brother, Okpako Adanike.

Police investigations had earlier led to the arrest of two suspects, Warri Ochuko and Lucky Okohwoake, who reportedly confessed to their involvement in the crime.

The newly arrested suspects were said to have also confessed, bringing the total number of suspects in custody to four.

“All suspects have confessed to the commission of the crime and were today arraigned before the Ughelli High Court and remanded in prison custody,” the statement noted.

The police said the operation underscores the importance of intelligence-led policing, including raids and stop-and-search operations, in curbing criminal activities across the state.

The Delta State Commissioner of Police commended officers involved in the operation, stating that sustained pressure on criminal networks would make the state increasingly hostile for criminal elements.

He also urged residents to remain law-abiding and cooperate with security agencies in efforts to maintain peace and order.
