Political leaders and stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta North Senatorial District have resolved to initiate legal processes to reclaim the senatorial mandate from Prince Ned Nwoko, who recently defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

At a high-level meeting held on Thursday at the Government House, Asaba, the leaders passed a resolution to ensure the PDP retains its dominance in the senatorial district.

The meeting, presided over by the state Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, was attended by elected and appointed officials, party chieftains, and grassroots mobilizers.
The decision to retrieve the mandate followed deliberations on the implications of Sen. Nwoko’s defection.

Speakers at the meeting, including the PDP Delta North senatorial Chairman, Chief Dan Ossai, the state Deputy Chairman of the PDP, Elder Moses Iduh, and Majority Leader of the Delta State House of Assembly, Emeka Nwaobi, stressed that Delta North remains a PDP stronghold and should not allow its senatorial representation to be lost to the opposition.

The motion for legal action was proposed and endorsed by key stakeholders, who emphasized that the mandate given to Sen. Nwoko by PDP members must be protected.

The leaders maintained that PDP remains the dominant political force in the state and urged members to remain steadfast.

Beyond the issue of Sen. Nwoko’s defection, the meeting also served as a platform to reaffirm confidence in Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration.

Citing the governor’s achievements, particularly in infrastructure, salary payment, and project execution, the leaders lauded his leadership style and commitment to even development across the state.

The deputy governor urged all PDP office holders to remain engaged with the grassroots and ensure that the party’s influence is not eroded by the opposition.

He emphasized that elected officials, including local government chairmen, should actively support the Oborevwori administration’s More Agenda by implementing community-focused projects.
