The Executive Chairman of Isoko North Local Government Area, Hon. (Elder) Prince Godwin Ogorugba, has issued a ban on the activities of scavengers, commonly referred to as Iron Condemn, citing their involvement in criminal activities.

The decision was announced during a high-level security meeting attended by traditional rulers, community leaders, and heads of security agencies. Hon. Ogorugba expressed grave concerns over the rising menace posed by scavengers, who he alleged have been linked to crimes such as kidnapping, armed robbery, drug trafficking, and vandalism.

Describing the threat as a “significant danger” to the safety and livelihoods of Isoko North residents, the council boss revealed that scavengers operating within the area have been given 20 days to vacate the local government. He urged landlords and residents who have rented or leased their land to these individuals to ensure compliance within the stipulated period, warning of strict repercussions for defaulters.

“Failure to remove scavengers by December 22, 2024, will compel the council to involve security agencies to enforce the eviction and reclaim the land as government property,” Ogorugba stated. He emphasized that such actions were necessary to protect the lives and properties of residents and safeguard the community’s economic activities.

Hon. Ogorugba expressed his gratitude to the people of Isoko North for their unwavering support of his administration and assured them of his commitment to prioritizing their well-being. He pledged to continue consolidating on the MORE Agenda of Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, aimed at advancing development and security across the region.
