The Delta State Government has projected a budget of approximately N936 billion for the 2025 fiscal year, representing a 30% increase from the current year’s budget of N725 billion.
This was disclosed by the Delta state’s Commissioner for Economic Planning, Mr. Sonny Ekedayen during the commencement of the Inter-Ministerial Budget Defense in Asaba, where Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) are meant to defend their budget proposals.
Mr. Ekedayen, who is the convener of the budget defense, noted that the 2025 budget would be based on actual receipts from June 2024 onward.
He assured that the budget would still provide significant value to Deltans through efficient resource allocation by the MDAs despite the challenges posed by the depreciation of the Naira.

He acknowledged the impact of national policies such as subsidy removal and exchange rate floatation on the economy, urging Deltans to adjust to the current economic realities.
He however, expressed optimism, stating that while tough times may persist, the nation will ultimately benefit from these reforms. He also dismissed concerns about further petrol price increases, asserting that fuel has been appropriately priced.
The budget defense continues in the coming days, with more MDAs expected to present their proposals.
