Delta state government has purchased and donated five Armoured Carrier vehicles to the Nigeria Police and Army to empower and enable it provide adequate security in the state.
The state governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, presented the items to the army and police hierarchy in the state, shortly after the State Security Council meeting held at its Government House, Asaba on Wednesday.
Okowa said that his administration would continue to provide necessary logistics to the Nigeria Army and Police to enable them consolidate on the peace and security in the state.
He noted that the Armored carriers were presented to the various commands in furtherance to the logistics provision for the Nigeria army and police in the state.
His words, “I want to commend the various command for the works they have been doing to consolidate on the peace we have been enjoying in our state Delta and in furtherance of the various logistics provisions for the army and the police.

“This afternoon we are handing over two Armoured personnel Carriers specially built for the army, one has a slow been previously delivered making it three for the 63 brigade and two to the police making it a total of five.
“We are glad that at this time of the year the remaining two to the 63 brigade has been delivered, so this afternoon we will be handing over the keys to the Armoured personnel carriers and we do hope that in the course of the year we will be able to provide more logistic needs for the various commands.
“They have been doing so well to keep Delta state peaceful of which as a government we are very grateful and we are hoping the these will add on to the vehicular needs that is necessary to enable their operations and that they will continue their best to guarantee the security of our people and the peace of Delta state.”
Receiving the items on behalf of the Army, Brigade Commander, Brig General Abdulraman Idris thanked the state government for the provisions and continued support of security agencies.
