Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has urged investors to prioritize hiring local workers as part of their operations in the state. The governor made the call during the inauguration of the Globus Bank branch in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area on Monday. Represented by his Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, FCA, Governor Oborevwori emphasized the abundant talent, resources, and opportunities available in Delta.

Governor Oborevwori highlighted the state’s skilled and unskilled labor force, as well as its educated youths excelling in various fields. He assured investors that Delta offers a business-friendly environment with accommodating residents, abundant raw materials, and able-bodied youths eager to contribute to economic growth.

“In recent times, we have witnessed an influx of private sector operators into Delta. This reflects the success of our ease-of-doing-business initiatives and the quick, substantial returns on investments here,” Oborevwori stated.

The governor emphasized Delta State’s numerous strategic advantages that make it a prime location for investment. He noted that the state is blessed with abundant natural resources, including the largest deposits of natural gas in the region, substantial oil reserves, and fertile soil ideal for agricultural activities.
Additionally, Delta boasts robust infrastructure, with functional seaports, two operational airports, and excellent accessibility via road and rail networks. The governor also highlighted the state’s thriving multi-city economy, featuring economically vibrant hubs such as Warri, Ughelli, Agbor, Sapele, and Kwale, which is particularly notable for its booming oil and gas industry.

“Every serious investor should consider Delta. Our state is not only rich in resources but also offers a secure environment for businesses to thrive,” he added.

Governor Oborevwori reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the MORE Agenda, which focuses on meaningful development, opportunities, realistic reforms, and enhanced human capital.

“We are constructing roads, bridges, and developing our people through training programs that equip them to become employers of labor. Delta’s thriving small and medium-scale enterprises are evidence of a flourishing economy,” he said.

The Executive Director of Globus Bank, Mr. Sunday Ilegar, praised the state’s support since the bank began operations. He announced the bank’s readiness to partner with the Delta State Government on infrastructure projects to foster sustainable economic growth.

Governor Oborevwori concluded by inviting more businesses to explore opportunities in Delta State. He emphasized that realistic reforms and equal opportunities ensure a safe and thriving environment for all stakeholders.

“Delta is open for business, and the opening of Globus Bank’s Effurun branch is a testament to our agenda’s success,” he said.
