Delta State has reaffirmed its zero-tolerance for all forms of examination malpractices and unethical conduct, and pledged full cooperation with law-enforcement agencies to ensure that offenders face the full wrath of the law.

Commissioner for Health, Dr. Joseph Onojaeme, made the reaffirmation following the arrest of a suspect who offered financial inducement to influence the forthcoming preliminary training school examination, organised by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria in collaboration with the Delta State Ministry of Health.

The commissioner in a statement, said the suspect, whose identity is being withheld pending further investigation, was apprehended following credible intelligence and swift action by officers attached to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the state police command.

“The individual was allegedly caught attempting to influence the examination process by offering financial incentives to compromise the system and gain undue advantage for certain candidates.

“The examination, which serves as a critical step in the training and certification of student nurses, is conducted under strict guidelines to uphold the integrity and standards of the nursing profession.

“Hence, the authorities acted promptly to preserve the sanctity of the examination process, and ensure that justice takes its course,” the statement disclosed.

The suspect is currently in police custody and will be charged accordingly, upon the conclusion of investigations.

The statement further advised all candidates, parents, and other stakeholders to remain law-abiding and report any suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities, as integrity, transparency, and professionalism remain the bedrock of the healthcare system and the training of future nurses.
