The Delta State Government has donated relief materials to flood victims in the state.
Commissioner for Bureau for Special Duties, Etacherure Terry, who led the distribution team on behalf of the state government, said the donated items will impact the lives of the families affected by the devastating floods.
Joined by the Director of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Mr. Karo Ovemeso, and officials from the Public Complaints Unit, Terry distributed mattresses, food items including rice, wheat, and semovita, as well as salt, sugar, and cooking oil to the flood victims.
He said: “This intervention shows the state government’s commitment to supporting all Deltans in times of need”.

The distribution of the relief materials followed a recent inspection tour led by the commissioner to assess the extent of damage caused by flood in vulnerable areas around the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, the former JAMB office, and the Nigerian Christian Corpers’ Fellowship complex located by the River Niger.
The commissioner stated that having assessed the severe impact of the flood firsthand motivated the state government’s immediate response.
Terry also fulfilled a personal cash donation promise made during his visit, demonstrating solidarity with affected residents, noting that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration is committed to alleviating the sufferings of every resident, especially during emergencies.
