Delta State has commenced a comprehensive verification, and validation exercise to update the register of farmers across the state.
The initiative, spearheaded by the state Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, will take place from Monday, March 17, to Friday, March 28, 2025.
The exercise, according to Theresa Adiabua Oliko, Director of Public Communication/Functioning Permanent Secretary in a statement on Friday, aims to establish a credible and up-to-date database of genuine farmers for future government interventions.
As part of the process, agricultural field and extension officers will visit farms to capture relevant details, including the GPS coordinates of farm locations.

The state government has urged local government chairmen, traditional rulers, presidents-general, women, and youth leaders to ensure that registered farmers in their communities actively participate in the exercise.
Farmers are required to provide their National Identification Number (NIN) during verification.
The state government has also assured that an additional registration phase will be scheduled later for those who missed previous opportunities to register.
For further information, farmers are encouraged to contact the state Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources.
