The Delta State Government has announced a ban on the mixing of concrete on tarred road surfaces and pavements across the state, effective immediately.
The state Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, disclosed the government’s directive in a statement on Thursday.
Aniagwu explained that the move is aimed at curbing the indiscriminate defacement and destruction of public road infrastructure.
He expressed the government’s concern over the rising cases of workmen engaging in the unauthorized practice, which damages the road surfaces and pavements, jeopardizing the state’s investments in road infrastructure.

“While the state government is committed to providing road infrastructure across the state, it will not fold its arms and watch individuals destroy the ones already constructed,” the statement read.
To enforce compliance, the government warned that any person caught engaging in the act will face strict sanctions, including the sealing of the construction site.
This move underscores the government’s dedication to maintaining the quality of its road network and ensuring that public infrastructure is preserved for the benefit of all residents.
Citizens and stakeholders in the construction industry are urged to comply with this directive to avoid facing penalties.
