Delta State on Friday received the Best State in Cybersecurity Leadership Award from the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).
The programme with the theme: “Building a resilient digital future,” was organized by the NITDA in collaboration with the office of the national security adviser, Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy.
It was held at the Abuja Continental Hotel, Abuja.
Presenting the award, Dr. Lawan Mohammed, Director, Cybersecurity Department of NITDA, said the honour was in recognition of the relentless pursuits of the state government’s exemplary leadership in cybersecurity governance, infrastructure development, and cybersecurity awareness in ensuring that people embrace digital technology.
Speaking after receiving the award on behalf of the state Governor; the state’s Webmaster, Comrade Louis Osiobe appreciated the NITDA for the honour bestowed on Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
He acknowledged that the award would spur the state government to do more advocacy on the issue of digital economy and cybersecurity, among other areas for enhanced peace and security in the state.

He stated that Gov. Oborevwori understands the importance of building a resilient cybersecurity infrastructure, hence, various achievements have been recorded so far towards cybersecurity in the state.
Osiobe emphasized that Delta State has been recognized locally and internationally based on the tech empowerment programmes and cybersecurity related training courses organized for youths, technology entrepreneurs, law enforcement agencies and startups.
He harped on the need for every individual, organization, and government agency that desires growth to embrace cybersecurity, saying that service delivery in Delta State has been made easier through the digitalized and technology-driven agenda of Gov. Oborevwori.
He reiterated that the Delta State is investment ready for individuals and organizations that are ready to embrace and leverage on the opportunities available in information and communication technology sector.
