The Delta State government has approved infrastructure projects worth over ₦400 billion for the construction, rehabilitation and upgrading of roads and other public facilities across the state.
The approvals were granted during the State Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
Briefing journalists after the meeting, the Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Charles Aniagwu, said the projects cut across several local government areas, including Warri South, Warri South-West, Udu, Ughelli North, Ughelli South, Ethiope East, Ethiope West, Ika North-East, Ika South, Ndokwa East, Ndokwa West, Bomadi, Burutu, Isoko North and Isoko South.
The commissioner said the approvals reflect the administration’s commitment to strengthening institutions, improving security architecture, and providing modern infrastructure to support effective governance and service delivery across Delta State.
According to Aniagwu, the projects are aimed at improving road connectivity, boosting economic activities and enhancing development across communities in the state.
Among the major projects approved are the rehabilitation of the Aghalokpe–SPDC–Adagbrassa–Aragba Road in Okpe Local Government Area, reconstruction works on several roads in Asaba, including Asagba Palace Road and GBC Murphy Avenue, and the cutting of the hill near the Asaba Airport to improve access and safety.
In the Warri axis, the council approved the reconstruction of the Warri Internal Ring Road Phase Two, rehabilitation of the first three kilometres of the Trans-Warri Ode-Itsekiri Road, and construction of roads in Ubeji and Ekpan.
Projects were also approved for Udu, Ughelli, Patani, Ethiope East and Ethiope West, including the reconstruction of the Eku–Osubi Road Phase Two and sections of the Jesse–Boboroko Road.

In the riverine areas, the government approved the construction of roads in Bomadi, Burutu and the Torugbene–Ojobo Road project.
The council also approved the construction of male and female hostels in state-owned universities, renovation of magistrate courts and customary courts, as well as the construction of judges’ quarters in Osubi and Asaba.
In addition, the completion of the Senate and Administrative Building at Delta State University, Abraka was approved to strengthen administrative operations at the institution.
Aniagwu said the approvals reflect the government’s commitment to expanding infrastructure and supporting development across Delta State.
