A group of APC lawmakers in Delta State has strongly refuted a recent publication by GbaramatuVoice TV, labeling it as misleading and unprofessional. The legislators clarified that no discussions about the performance of Governor Monday Okpebholo or the 2027 elections took place during their meeting with High Chief Promise Lawuru, as the report falsely suggested.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the lawmakers detailed their engagements with Chief Lawuru, emphasizing that their visit had no political undertones. According to them, the first meeting occurred on January 11, 2025, when they were invited to the Oginbiri Day Celebration at Ogbinbiri, Warri North LGA. However, due to prior commitments, only three legislators managed to attend the event.

The second meeting took place on February 1, 2025, at Chief Lawuru’s Warri residence, where he hosted them for breakfast as a gesture of appreciation for their participation in the Oginbiri celebration. The lawmakers stressed that no conversations about the Delta State Governor’s performance or the 2027 election took place, contrary to the claims in the GbaramatuVoice TV report.

“It is essential to note that no discussions whatsoever took place regarding issues of Delta State Governor’s performance in office or the 2027 election as mentioned in the publication. The use of photographs taken from the visit to Chief Lawuru to promote a different narrative is unprofessional,” the statement read.

The lawmakers urged the public to disregard the publication, describing it as baseless and misleading. They also reaffirmed their cordial working relationship with Governor Okpebholo, dismissing any speculation of discord within the party.

The statement was jointly signed by Hon. Emakpor Edafe Esq (Minority Leader and Member representing Uvwie State Constituency), Hon. Ebitonmo Anthony Alapala (Minority Whip and Member representing Burutu State Constituency 1), and Hon. Matthew Onojighofia Omonade Esq (Member representing Ughelli North Constituency 1).

Other signatories include Hon. Spencer Obakore Owhofa Esq (Ughelli North Constituency 2), Hon. Collins Ovie Egbetama Esq (Udu Constituency), Hon. Achoja Blessing (Ethiope West Constituency), and Hon. Benson Obire (Warri South Constituency 2).

With this strong rebuttal, the APC lawmakers have set the record straight, warning against the spread of misinformation and reaffirming their loyalty to the state government.
