The Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for the full repayment of Nigeria’s debt to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), describing it as a landmark financial victory and a bold symbol of Nigeria’s renewed economic sovereignty.

In a statement signed by the State Publicity Secretary of the party, Valentine Onojeghuo Esq., and made available to the press on Thursday, the Delta APC commended the Tinubu administration for what it termed “a strategic reset of Nigeria’s economic narrative,” affirming that the President has “restored the dignity of the Nigerian nation and positioned her as a re-emerging economic powerhouse.”

“The All Progressives Congress (APC), Delta State under the chairmanship of Elder Omeni Sobotie, proudly extends its warmest congratulations to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, on the remarkable economic milestones achieved under his visionary Renewed Hope Agenda,” the statement declared.

The statement highlighted that the repayment of the IMF debt, which led to Nigeria’s removal from the list of indebted countries, was not just a financial transaction, but a “defining moment” in the Tinubu administration’s efforts to re-engineer the economy.

“This singular accomplishment, under the firm and competent stewardship of President Tinubu, is not only a financial triumph but a powerful statement of Nigeria’s resurgence as a sovereign economic powerhouse,” the party noted.

The statement further emphasized the ripple effect of the President’s bold economic actions, stating: “These decisive fiscal disciplines, bold monetary policies and sweeping diversification efforts have sparked unprecedented economic growth, reinvigorated our productive sectors and repositioned Nigeria as a destination of choice for global investment.”

According to the party, these policies are “not abstract projections; they are felt daily in communities across our nation.”

Delta APC also used the moment to stress that President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda has birthed “initiatives that support local enterprise, agricultural expansion, digital innovation, infrastructure renewal and youth empowerment,” adding that the economic transformation is both measurable and people-oriented.

In the same vein, the APC also applauded the development efforts of Delta State Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori under the M.O.R.E. Agenda, noting that both federal and state governments are advancing complimentary growth paths.

“In tandem with these national achievements, we commend the ongoing developmental momentum within Delta State under the M.O.R.E. Agenda of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, as his administration has recorded unprecedented achievements across all senatorial districts of the State within the shortest time,” the statement read.

Among the projects commended were the completion of the Ughelli-Asaba Expressway and the ongoing construction of the Effurun and Enerhen flyovers. “We also acknowledge the ongoing construction of the Effurun and Enerhen flyover projects—visionary capital projects that will ease traffic, promote commerce, enhance urban connectivity and modernize the urban outlook of Delta State,” it added.

The APC also praised the establishment of the Southern Delta University, Orerokpe, stating that it “not only expands access to quality education but also positions Delta as a hub for academic excellence in the South-South region.”

Speaking on the Ayakoromo Bridge project, the statement recalled: “The near-completion of the Ayakoromo Bridge, which His Excellency—known for keeping his promise—has stated will be completed by 2027, stands as a bold testament to his administration’s commitment to inclusive development and the opening up of our riverine communities to greater economic opportunities.”

The party concluded by calling for enhanced synergy between the federal and state governments, stressing that greater collaboration is essential to deepening reforms and ensuring the widespread delivery of democratic dividends.

“Delta APC family stands united in acknowledging the visible progress recorded under the leadership of Governor Oborevwori and we reaffirm our unalloyed loyalty to His Excellency and pledge our total support for his second-term mandate, driven by a collective desire for the continuity of good governance, equity and transformational leadership.”

“While we continue to support President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, we remain resolute in our commitment to ensuring that the M.O.R.E. Agenda of His Excellency Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori delivers more for Deltans,” the statement stated.
