The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State has distanced the party from a proposed solidarity walk in support of former Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, being organized by his loyalists within the party.

The party said the solidarity walk wasn’t sanctioned, approved, or endorsed by the leadership of the APC in Delta State.

It added that the planned solidarity walk spearheaded by a group identifying itself as “Planning Committee” does not represent the views, interests, or directives of the party, and is unauthorized.

The state leadership of the party expressed dismay that the group behind the planned event, led by Chief Emmanuel Adigwe, could organize a political rally in the name of the party without the knowledge or endorsement of the party’s leadership.

“This act represents a clear breach of the internal regulatory frameworks that guide our operations as a responsible political party,” the APC said in a statement.

While recognising the right of party members to celebrate or honour key figures in the party, including Omo-Agege, the party, however, said no individual or group within the party has the right to organize or brand any activity as an official APC event without due consultation and express approval from the state leadership of the party.

It added that any unauthorized use of the party’s name, logo, or platform for political mobilization or public demonstrations is prohibited, warning that any deviation from this rule will attract appropriate disciplinary measures.

The party, therefore, directed Chief Emmanuel Adigwe, Macdonald Ogolu, Emmanuel Chukwuemeke, Jerry Onyeka, Theodore Obocha, Marcus Enudi, and members of the solidarity group to suspend all activities, planning, mobilization, or promotion associated with the said solidarity walk.

“Any further attempt to proceed with this unauthorized event will be interpreted as an act of open defiance against the party’s authority and shall be met with swift and severe disciplinary action.

“This press statement shall serve as a final warning to all organizers, sponsors, and supporters of the unauthorized event.

“We urge them to reflect on the consequences of their actions and retrace their steps in the interest of the party’s unity and discipline.

“Individual ambitions, emotional enthusiasm, or factional loyalties must never override the supremacy of the party and its directives.

“Actions taken outside the bounds of the party’s due process will not be tolerated under any guise henceforth,” the party declared.

Furthermore, it said any legitimate event or political mobilization in the name of the party must be done with the consent of the party’s leadership in the state.

“We encourage all well-meaning party members to work in harmony with the recognized leadership structures and avoid creating unnecessary distractions or divisions within our great party.

“For the avoidance of doubt, any future political mobilization, solidarity events, or public engagements in the name of the party must receive proper vetting and approval from the Delta State APC leadership.

“We urge all members to align themselves with the directive and interest of the party and refrain from activities that could cause division or embarrassment to the collective,” it advised.
