Delta APC dismisses report on Oborevwori’s 2027 bid, labels it desperate propaganda

The Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has reacted to a recent publication questioning the stability of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s 2027 governorship ambition, describing the report as a “baseless, mischievous, and clearly sponsored attack” by desperate political actors.

In a statement on Wednesday, signed by the party’s State Publicity Secretary, Valentine Onojeghuo, Esq., the APC said the report was filled with “cowardly anonymous sources and thinly veiled insinuations,” and was part of a wider smear campaign to undermine Governor Oborevwori’s growing popularity and acceptance within the party and across Delta State.

“The 2027 gubernatorial ambition of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori is not in muddy waters – it is cast in stone and on a rock-solid, people-backed trajectory that is gathering unstoppable momentum by the day,” the statement declared.

The party emphasized that Oborevwori’s endorsement at the South-South APC Stakeholders Meeting in Benin City, as well as his widespread support at various senatorial meetings within the state, reflect the reality on the ground — not a manufactured crisis.

According to the APC, those behind the report are “politically expired elements” who are struggling to remain relevant after previously abandoning or sabotaging the party’s electoral prospects.

“It is even more pathetic that some of these expired politicians have now resorted to recruiting ghostwriters to run fake stories and imaginary ‘insider’ information in hopes of reviving their already buried gubernatorial dreams,” the party said.

On claims that the national leadership of the APC was unhappy with Oborevwori’s growing influence, the statement dismissed them as outright lies, stressing that his move to the party was legitimate and embraced by key figures, including the Presidency.

“Governor Oborevwori’s entry into the APC was strategic, welcomed, and blessed. The party is not the personal estate of a few power-hungry individuals. It belongs to the people, and the people are standing solidly with him,” the statement read.

The APC reiterated that both old and new members are working hand-in-hand under the leadership of Governor Oborevwori to position the party for success in 2027. It warned of continued attempts to derail the process through misinformation but vowed not to be distracted.

“We are more than ready,” the statement continued. “No amount of fake news, shadowy press briefings, or whispered campaigns will distract us from our focused goal.”

Oborevwori’s ambition, the party maintained, is rooted not in political gimmicks but in performance, popular appeal, and the will of the people.

“Delta APC is marching forward — with or without those trying to stand in the way,” the statement said.
