The Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed as misleading and politically motivated, a report by an online media alleging a deepening crisis rocking the party, insisting that its recently concluded congresses were peaceful, transparent and unified.
In a statement issued on March 4, 2026, by the state Publicity Secretary, Valentine Onojeghuo, the party said it was necessary to correct what it described as a fabricated narrative aimed at creating artificial division within its ranks.
The APC used the opportunity to congratulate its newly elected state Chairman, Chief Solomon Arenyeka, and members of the State Executive Committee, describing their emergence as the product of a broad-based, constitutionally backed consensus process reflecting the collective will of stakeholders across the state.
According to the statement, the ward, local government and state congresses were conducted without rancour, and no parallel congress was held in any of the 270 wards, 25 local government areas or at the state level, a development it said underscores the unity within the party.
The party attributed the smooth conduct of the exercise to the inclusive leadership and wide consultations championed by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, noting that the consensus model prioritised unity and collective progress over personal ambition.
It described claims of crisis as speculative, stressing that absence from political gatherings does not equate to division, and that the true measure of unity lies in institutional order, acceptance of outcomes and absence of factional structures.
