The Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has rejected a reported recall campaign targeting Senator Ede Dafinone, describing the move as a “baseless and desperate act of political blackmail” allegedly spearheaded by activist and media personality Fejiro Oliver.
In a statement issued on Wednesday and signed by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Valentine Onojeghuo, the APC described the attempt as “an utterly disgusting, laughable and baseless” plot orchestrated by individuals it referred to as “clueless” and “hungry-looking,” accusing Oliver of being a “notorious blackmailer and political hustler.”
The party alleged that the purported recall was not a genuine expression of the will of the people of Delta Central Senatorial District, but rather a smear campaign driven by ulterior motives.
“This so-called recall effort is dead on arrival,” the statement declared.
“It is a poorly scripted melodrama orchestrated by Fejiro Oliver, whose only claim to relevance is his capacity for blackmail and online extortion,” the statement said.
According to the APC, Sen. Dafinone has continued to receive wide acclaim across the senatorial district for his performance in the Senate, including legislative achievements and development-focused interventions.

“Senator Dafinone has exceeded expectations and redefined public service in our senatorial district,” the statement said.
Dismissing the legitimacy of those behind the campaign, the APC noted that none of the individuals involved are recognized party members, nor do they have the moral or political standing to speak on behalf of the APC or the constituents of Delta Central.
The statement further accused Oliver of engaging in “media terrorism, harassment, and defamation” for personal gain and political manipulation.
It suggested that the recall campaign may have been sponsored by unnamed individuals threatened by the senator’s performance and rising political profile.
“Delta APC is not unmindful of Fejiro Oliver’s pattern of malicious campaigns… designed to serve the sinister motives of his shadowy paymasters,” the statement alleged.
Calling for transparency, the party challenged Oliver to reveal the sponsors of the recall initiative.
“Who is bankrolling this deceitful campaign?” the statement asked. “The people of Delta Central will not be used as pawns in their ungodly act,” it said.
