The Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has thrown its weight behind President Bola Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori as its sole presidential and governorship candidates for the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement was announced on Wednesday, August 27, at the party’s State Executive Committee meeting held in Asaba, which was presided over by the state Chairman, Elder Omeni Sobotie.
Addressing party leaders from across the 25 local government areas of the state, Sobotie urged unity and discipline among members, stressing that the future of the APC in Delta depended on internal cohesion.
“We must remain loyal and committed to the party. Through harmony and reconciliation, we can build a stronger APC capable of victory in 2027,” he said.
He also disclosed plans for an empowerment programme coming up next month, aimed at supporting members and strengthening the party’s presence at the grassroots.

The high point of the gathering was the adoption of a resolution backing Tinubu for a second term.
The meeting praised the president’s economic policies and leadership style, noting that his Renewed Hope Agenda had repositioned Nigeria for growth and stability.
Also, Gov. Oborevwori was unanimously endorsed as the governorship candidate of the APC in Delta State.
“His inclusive leadership and proven capacity to deliver on the M.O.R.E. Agenda make him the natural choice,” the resolution stated.
The motion was moved by the state Assistant Auditor, Chief Ubu Digbame, and seconded by the Aniocha South APC Chairman, Pastor Norbert Sochukwudinma, before being approved by the party leaders at the meeting.
