Defence Minister, Christopher Musa has ordered the service chiefs to visit the North-East and North-West, to assess and modify current military operations.
This directive was issued on Wednesday during a meeting at the Ministry of Defence headquarters in Abuja, aimed at reviewing the ongoing security challenges in these areas, which have been plagued by violent attacks.
Recent reports indicate a rise in terrorist incidents in parts of the North-East and North-West, with some assaults targeting military installations, resulting in casualties among security forces and heightening anxiety among local residents.
During the meeting, the defence minister emphasized the importance of the service chiefs conducting a personal evaluation of the situation and exploring ways to enhance military efforts.
The minister’s media adviser, Timothy Antigha, said the service chiefs are expected to visit the affected regions and subsequently provide a report detailing their findings and suggestions.

Antigha noted that the minister clearly instructed the service chiefs on the necessary actions to address the security issues, stating: “Ensure you adjust military operations in the North-East and North-West region.”
The minister believe the visits will enable the service chiefs to gain direct insight into the challenges faced by troops in those areas.
The results of these visits are anticipated to inform new strategies aimed at mitigating attacks and improving the overall security landscape in the regions.
This initiative comes as authorities seek more effective methods to combat insurgency, banditry, and other violent crimes that have affected numerous communities throughout northern Nigeria.
