The Defence Headquarters on Monday stated that the notorious bandit kingpin, Bello Turji, is a dead man walking.
The statement is coming after his recent threats against the military and communities in Zamfara State.
Turji, in a viral video had challenged the military, accusing it of targeting elderly people and demanding the release of a detained associate, Baka Wurgi.
He further threatened to unleash terror on Zamfara State residents in 2025 if his demands were not met.
However, the Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj. Gen. Edward Buba dismissed Turji’s threats, describing it as empty rhetoric, while vowing that the bandit leader would meet the same fate as other terrorist commanders.
Maj. Gen. Buba said that “Bello Turji is merely a dead man walking. It would be insulting to engage in a war of words with a terrorist. Before him, others who dared to boast against security forces have all been neutralised. The same fate awaits Turji and his likes.

“These so-called terrorist leaders who think they are untouchable will eventually meet their end. Many have been buried on the battlefield, and 2025 will see the same fate for others. Their time is up.”
The Defence Headquarters spokesman addressed those questioning the military’s Christmas Day bombing of the Lakurawas terrorist group’s enclave and the killing of their collaborators, saying: “The first casualty of war is the truth. It’s always the truth that suffers first.
“So, it’s no surprise when terrorists or their supporters spread false narratives about what happened. It would be disrespectful to the military to believe such propaganda.
“Please, don’t fall for terrorist propaganda. They’re unhappy that we’ve successfully bombed their positions, destroying their ammunition and logistics supplies. This is a war for Nigerians, and we must stand united against their lies.”
