After a recent outburst regarding violence in Osun state, singer David ‘Davido’ Adeleke addressed the situation on his X (formerly Twitter) account.
He initially placed much of the blame for the bloodshed on the state Commissioner of Police, Umar Abba, but upon further reflection, he recognized that the issue extends beyond just one individual.
While his anger over the needless killings was profound, Davido acknowledged the genuine efforts of the security agencies, including the commissioner of police, in handling the crisis.
He emphasized the importance of commending these agencies for their hard work, and expressed his hope for them to intensify their efforts to maintain peace.
Davido called for the enforcement of the rule of law, and urged that the upcoming local government elections on February 22, 2025, be conducted peacefully.

He concluded by wishing the commissioner of police, and other security leaders success as they navigate the challenges at hand, highlighting that a peaceful election would be a significant achievement for both politicians and security forces alike.
After his outburst earlier on Monday, singer David ‘Davido’ Adeleke has taken to his X(formally Twitter account, after a review of political developments in Osun state revealed more facts, which include several genuine efforts of the security agencies including the state commissioner of police to mitigate the crisis.
“The bloodshed of today, infuriated me so much that I heaped all the blame on the commissioner of police.
“I now see that the issue is more than that of the commissioner of police or other security chiefs. The needless killings of today, angered me so deeply that I thought such should have been nipped in the bud. Yet,I can see that the security agencies led by the commissioner of police put in their best and deserve commendation.
“In memory of the dead and the injured, I urge the security agencies, including the commissioner of police to redouble their efforts to sustain peace. We must allow rule of law to prevail.
“We must also work to ensure that the local government election scheduled for Saturday February 22nd is held peacefully. Achieving this will be a crowning glory not just for politicians but for security chiefs including the Osun State commissioner of police.
“I wish the commissioner of police and other security commanders the best of luck, as they address challenges of the moment,” he said.
