The Chairman of Dangote Industries, Aliko Dangote, has brought his corruption allegations against Farouk Ahmed, the former Managing Director of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
A statement from the Dangote Group’s media team released on Friday, said Dangote through his attorney, filed a formal complaint at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja.
This action follows Dangote’s recent withdrawal of a similar complaint from the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC), which had accused Ahmed of spending approximately $5 million on his children’s secondary education in Switzerland.
Despite the withdrawal, the ICPC has indicated that it will continue its investigation.

The statement clarified that the decision to approach the EFCC was a strategic move intended to expedite the prosecution process.
In the petition to the EFCC, signed by lead counsel O J Onoja, Dangote requested an investigation into the alleged abuse of office and corrupt enrichment by Ahmed, urging that he be prosecuted if the allegations are substantiated.
The petition also mentioned that Dangote is prepared to provide evidence supporting the claims of financial misconduct.
Onoja called on the EFCC to conduct a thorough investigation and take legal action if Ahmed is found guilty, referencing previous court rulings that have penalized public officials for corruption.
