The Dangote Refinery has onboarded 15 new fuel marketing companies, strengthening its network ahead of a full-scale nationwide fuel rollout scheduled for August 2025.

This development adds to an already expanding list of distribution partners, which includes industry giants like MRS, AP, Heyden, Hyde, Optima, and Techno Oil. The refinery made this announcement on Tuesday, July 2, 2025, signaling a clear intent to increase accessibility to its refined petroleum products across all 36 states and the FCT.

Newly Onboarded Fuel Marketing Partners:

These companies are expected to commence distribution immediately in August, marking a new phase in Dangote Refinery’s market penetration strategy.
Meanwhile, the refinery has reduced its ex-depot petrol price from ₦880 to ₦840 per litre, effective June 30, 2025. This move is part of efforts to make fuel more affordable for Nigerians. While distribution partners are expected to reflect the price drop at the pump, many filling stations still sell fuel at higher prices due to unsold inventory previously acquired at rates as high as ₦900 per litre.

To further streamline its supply chain and cut distribution costs, the refinery has acquired 4,000 compressed natural gas (CNG)-powered trucks worth ₦720 billion. This investment is projected to significantly reduce fuel transportation costs, eliminate third-party logistics expenses, and directly benefit over 42 million micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) nationwide. The company believes this move will help stabilize prices and support long-term affordability at the pump.

Despite the price slash, the full impact is yet to be seen at the retail level. Many marketers remain cautious, holding off on price reductions until older stock is exhausted. Additionally, diesel prices remain volatile, with the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) reporting an average pump price of ₦1,758.26 per litre in May 2025 , a 25.24% rise compared to the same time last year.
