The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has clarified that it has not received any payments from the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) for refined petroleum products. The refinery emphasized that, despite ongoing discussions, it does not currently engage in direct business transactions with IPMAN members, dispelling any misconceptions about IPMAN’s claims of facing difficulties in loading refined products.

The Dangote Group highlighted that any payments related to refined petroleum transactions involving IPMAN were routed through the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), not Dangote Refinery. The statement also noted that the NNPCL has neither authorized nor approved the release of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) to IPMAN from their refinery.

With the capacity to load up to 2,900 trucks daily and arrange sea evacuations for petroleum products, Dangote Refinery assures that it can meet Nigeria’s fuel demands. The refinery advised IPMAN to register directly with them and make direct payments to ensure seamless access to the necessary supplies.

Addressing public statements on the matter, the refinery urged stakeholders to refrain from making speculative or unfounded claims, stressing that such actions could disrupt the country’s economic progress under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration. “Conducting business through public speculation is counterproductive and unpatriotic,” stated Anthony Chiejina, Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer for Dangote.
