The Dangote Group has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Ruth Otabor, who sustained severe injuries in a recent road crash involving one of the company’s trucks in Auchi, Edo State.
In a statement released on Sunday, the management of Dangote Group extended condolences to Otabor’s family, friends, and loved ones, describing the loss as painful despite the company’s intervention to save her life.
According to the statement, company officials and insurance partners had been providing full financial and medical support for Otabor since the accident. Plans were also made to fly her to India for advanced medical treatment, pending clearance from her doctors. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries on Saturday.

“Sadly, despite these efforts and Ruth’s brave fight to live, we lost her today,” the statement read.
Dangote Group emphasized that safety and compassion remain central to its operations, pledging to continue strengthening its safety systems while supporting victims of such incidents.
The management prayed for God’s mercy on the deceased and eternal rest for her soul.
The accident, which occurred in Auchi, had earlier drawn attention to safety concerns on Nigerian highways, particularly involving heavy-duty trucks.
