A violent clash between rival cult groups, the Greenlanders and Bobos, has left three people dead in Igbogene, a community in Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
The tragic incident, which occurred around 8 p.m., plunged the community into chaos as heavily armed cultists, numbering about ten, stormed the area, instilling fear among residents. Eyewitnesses report that terrified residents fled for safety, locking themselves indoors as the cultists wreaked havoc.
One of the victims was the son of a former leader of the community vigilante group, known locally as “Money Sweet.” According to an anonymous resident, the young man was gunned down near his house.

“The first victim was shot close to his home,” the source recounted. “The second person, who was not even a cultist, was killed because he couldn’t reveal the whereabouts of his elder brother to the attackers.”
Confirming the tragic incident, the Public Relations Officer of the Bayelsa State Police Command, Musa Mohammed, disclosed the identities of the deceased. They include 28-year-old Donaldson Mison, 27-year-old Addy Mulan, and 29-year-old Greenboy Dudella.
The police have launched an investigation into the attack, assuring residents of heightened security in the community. Authorities have also called on members of the public to provide any information that could help apprehend the perpetrators of this heinous act.
This clash is an indication of the persistent threat of cult-related violence in Bayelsa State, raising concerns about the safety and security of local communities. Residents have urged the government and security agencies to intensify efforts to curb cult activities and restore peace to the troubled area.
