Cross River State Police Commissioner, CP Olusegun Eyitayo Omosanyin, has warned his officers against extortion and illegal detentions.
In a strategic engagement session held on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at the Command Headquarters, Diamond Hill, Calabar, CP Omosanyin, also cautioned them against unauthorized searches of mobile phones, and any violation of citizens’ rights.
Over 200 personnel drawn from various tactical teams, including the Rapid Response Squad, Anti-Kidnapping Squad, Anti-Cultism Squad, Operation Sting, and the Crack Team, among others, attended the session.
While describing those ills as forms of misconduct and abuse of power, he expressed the command’s dedication to professional policing standards.
Omosanyin, stressed the importance of ethical policing and professional conduct, urging officers to maintain integrity and discipline in the discharge of their duties.
The Police Commissioner also reminded officers of the Nigeria Police Force’s guidelines on social media usage, urging them to act responsibly online to protect the image and credibility of the Force.

According to him, “Under my leadership, we will not condone misconduct or any act that undermines public trust,” adding that “Officers found guilty of unprofessional behaviour will face appropriate disciplinary measures.”
He emphasized that policing must be seen as a shared responsibility between law enforcement and the community, explaining that maintaining public safety requires mutual respect and cooperation.
The Police boss encouraged the public to report any unprofessional conduct and to support the police in building a safer Cross River State.
The engagement session was part of ongoing efforts by the Cross River State Command to enhance operational discipline and ensure accountability among officers, especially those in tactical units often engaged in high-pressure assignments.
