The acting Governor of Cross River State, Peter Odey, has disassociated himself from the statement issued by the Chairman of the South-South Governors’ Forum, Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State, opposing the decision of President Bola Tinubu to suspend the Rivers State governor to make way for a state of emergency.
In a statement signed by his Press Secretary, Fred Abua, the acting governor, noted that he was neither consulted nor was his opinion sought before the issuance of the statement.
He said the position of the forum does not reflect the views of the government of Cross River State, which fully aligns with the decision of the president, which was taken in the best interest of national security, peace, and stability.
