Cross River State Governor, Bassey Otu has approved the appointment of directors into the state homeland security agency for the three senatorial districts in the state.
This was disclosed on Thursday in a statement issued by the governor’s spokesman, Gill Nsa.
The names of the three appointees according to the statement, are Mr. Raphael Odu, northern senatorial district; Mr. Felix Arikpo, central district, and Michael Nsan, southern district.
“As stated by the state planning commission, the mandate of the Cross River State Homeland Security Agency is to ensure the safety and security of Cross River State residents, properties and infrastructure, and to prevent, respond to and manage emergencies, disasters, and threats that could compromise the state’s peace and stability

“Additionally, the Cross River State Homeland Security Agency, will coordinate with law enforcement agencies, disaster management bodies and other state departments to enhance the overall security and resilience of the state,” the statement read in part.
It further stated that the agency will address security challenges, maintain law and order, and provide effective emergency response systems
“They will also be involved in intelligence gathering, crisis management and public awareness programmes related to security,” the statement added, pointing out that the appointments takes immediate effect.
