Cross River State chapter of the All Progressive Congress APC has endorsed president Bola Ahmed Tinubu and governor Bassey Edet Otu for second term in office citing good governance and security as reasons behind its support.
At a consultative forum by the Southern Senatorial District, Senator Florence Ita-Giwa on Wednesday, moved a motion for endorsement of president Tinubu and was seconded by former minister, High Chief Edem Duke.
A motion for the endorsement of Bassey Otu, the governor, was moved by former deputy governor of the state ,Prof. Ivara Esu and was seconded by Prof. Eyo Etim Nyong.
At the occasion were National Assembly members, representatives of the seven local government areas that make up the South, other senatorial districts, women, youths, party stakeholders, religious and non indigenous groups as well as captain of industries.
During the event, the state party chairman, Barrister Alphonsus Eba, warned any opposition member to desist from contesting against the governor during primaries or face sanction and removal from the party.
Eba, who affirmed the endorsement as moved by the dignitaries of the party, stated that Otu, shall be the sole aspirant during the primaries and shall go ahead to contest the election and win overwhelmingly.

Other dignitaries and representatives of the various groups, who spoke, all expressed their support for the duo of Tinubu and Otu for a second term believing that the two leaders, will soon change the narrative and bring good governance to the citizenry.
The governor, Prince Bassey Otu, in his response, appreciated the organisers of the event and the entire Cross Riverians for coming out in large numbers despite the heavy downpour for the rally to express their support for both the state government and the president of the federal republic.
He promised to do more with the people’s continued support to him and the president whom he described as a courageous man in tackling the economic situation in the country.
Otu, while assuring 96 percent votes for Tinubu at the general elections, charged Nigerians to bear the hardship with the president as he is fighting hard to change the situations with his support for the proposed Deep Sea Port in the state and other potentials.
